Point Guards And Posts! Illinois Class Of 2012 Starting To Take Shape Nicely As Talent Pool Increases Brian Stinnette September 3, 2010 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com The Illinois Class of 2012 is starting to take shape nicely, and is a group that is characterized by not having a consensus top prospect, and that features some very nice point guard and post depth. Steve Taylor takes over the #1 ranking after an extremely impressive run throuhout the spring and the summer on the travel team circuit. However, there is not a lot of separation between the top prospects in this group. The 2012 class lost Antonio "Bobo" Drummond, who transferred to La Lumiere Academy in LaPorte, Indiana. However, the class added back T.J. Bell (Charleston) and Travis Britt (Rantoul), and also picked up a very nice addition in Eddie Alcantera (Chicago Hales Franciscan). A good deal of depth can be found both at point guard, and also in the paint. The post prospects in this group could be especially interesting to watch. A.J. Avery (Chicago St. Rita), Willie Wiley (Springfield), Nathan Boothe (Warren Township) and Brian Bennett (Plainfield East) all bring nice upside potential, and all having a chance to improve their stock greatly.
