Player Diary: Arsenio Mims of Peoria Woodruff High School
Arsenio Mims (Peoria Woodruff High School) Brian Stinnette Special To ChicagoHoops.com October 8, 2004 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com Arsenio Mims of Peoria Woodruff High School takes us along for a special look inside his life both on and off the basketball court. Arsenio ranks among the top prospects in Peoria, and one of the better Class of 2007 prospects in Illinois. My name is Arsenio Mims, and I would like to welcome you to my Player Diary. Some of you may know who I am, others may not. For those of you who do not know me, I am a 6-4 sophomore from Peoria Woodruff High School, and I play AAU basketball for the Illinois Warriors. I am very passionate about the game of basketball. I take a great deal of pride in being one of the hardest workers on the basketball court. I am here to talk about my life both on and off the basketball court. Before I get started, I would like to thank those individuals who got me started, and who also stand behind me through thick and thin. I would like to thank Avenya Davis (Mom), Annie Pullen (Grandmom), Jody Pullen (Uncle), Vicci Alexander (Aunt), Latrice Claudin (Aunt), Nate Stuckey (Brother), Mr. & Mrs. Mishler, Candace Quinn (Godmom). If it was not for these people, I would not be a straight A student, or a positive leader. Basketball has done a number of things for me, but the most important thing it has done has been to teach me responsibility. Basketball has taught me that for every action, there is a reaction. It has also taught me to not be overly concerned with publicity, because it is not always right. I can name a number of players who I feel are underrated in the eyes of the public including 6-3 junior LaMarcus Anderson (Peoria Woodruff), 6-8 junior Blake Mishler (Metamora), 5-11 senior Alphonso Dillard (Peoria Manual) and of course myself. The list can go on for pages, but those are just a few. Right now I am working out very hard. I am a power forward by nature, but I have the ability to step out and do some things on the perimeter as well. I am currently hitting the weights, running hills, dribbling and shooting lots of jump shots to improve my game. On the school side, things have been good, I am a straight A student, but I will talk more about that in my next diary. Look for my diary coming at ya all year long! Big shouts out to all Gametime For Life family all over the state. Shouts out to D Will (DeAaron Williams) doin it at Wisconsin, Nate, the House Twins, Lil Cory, B Mish, Brandon Dunson and all my Illinois Warrior teammates. Until Next Time, Arsenio Mims Peoria Woodruff High School |
