Chicago Boys To Men Math & English Academy Now Up and Rolling
Brian Stinnette August 30, 2005 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com Chicago Boys to Men Math & English Academy, a new prep school in the city of Chicago, is now up and rolling on Chicago's south side. Headed by former Chicago Julian head coach Loren Jackson, Boys to Men places a heavy emphasis on excellence both on and off of the basketball court. The school is nestled in a quiet neighborhood on the far south side of Chicago. The school is currently home to 15 students. The Boys to Men facility includes a large classroom, which has a computer workstation for each student, A computer/study lab which is fully equipped with ACT/SAT test preparation software, a conference room/lounge, and a practice gym. The school also has an off-site residence hall to house its students. During a tour of the facility, Loren Jackson told ChicagoHoops.com that a primary goal of the school is to produce respectful young men, and to prepare them to be successful student-athlete's in college. The Boys to Men roster features players from around the United States. 6-9 Nyal "Mac" Koshwal and 6-9 Thijin Moses headline the team. The team also features 6-7 Class of 2007 standout Gerald January and 6-5 Class of 2007 standout Michael Glover. January hails from Macon, Georgia and Glover from the Bronx, New York. Glover is the brother of former St. John's star Anthony Glover. The team also features 6-1 guard Darien Anderson. Last year, at Chicago Carver, Anderson led the Chicago Public League in scoring. 6-1 Jeremiah Kelly is also at Boys to Men. Kelly, who has been re-classified to the Class of 2008, starred at Chicago Julian last season. 6-2 Jessie Childs from Boise, Idaho is also on the roster. Childs is the son of former NBA star Chris Childs. Jackson has outlined a training regiment for his players that many colleges would admire. A heavy emphasis is placed on both diet and conditioning. Players go through individual workouts that are designed to maximize their skills on the basketball court. Boys to Men will play a full national schedule this season.
