Class of 2008 Oak Park-River Forest star Daniel Barnes of the Illinois Wolves has given a verbal commitment to play his college basketball in the Mid-American Conference for head coach Charles Ramsey, and Eastern Michigan University. Barnes ranks as one of the top Class of 2008 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois.

Barnes, a 6-2 guard, is known both for his versatility, and also his ability to score the basketball. Barnes was one of the standouts on a strong 17-U Illinois Wolves team, and will once again team with fellow 2008 star Iman Shumpert to form one of the top duo's in the state of Illinois.

Barnes, who committed during his visit to the Eastern Michigan campus over the weekend, is the second member of the Illinois Wolves to commit to EMU. Earlier this year, 6-9 Kamil Janton of Bartlett verbally committed to the Eastern Michigan program.

Barnes becomes the 7th member of this year's 17-U Illinois Wolves squad to commit to a Division I basketball program joining John Moran (Northern Iowa), John Shurna (Northwestern), Nick Fruendt (Northwestern), Rob Belcore (Penn), Kamil Janton (Eastern Michigan) and Chris Parrish (Southern Illinois).
