Chicago Foreman, with a strong contingent of young basketball talent, is positioned to have great future success on the basketball court. The Foreman Class of 2010 backcourt duo of Lavonte Dority and Mike McCall is nothing short of outstanding. Dority, who stands 6-0, is being showered with attention from college programs. Earlier this week, Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan, and star assistant Howard Moore were in to see Dority. McCall, who is seeing his recruiting stock soar, just picked up an offer from Northern Illinois University, and is poised to become a household name in the state of Illinois. Head coach Terry Head also has an emerging 2010 big man in 6-6 Eddie Denard.

I had a good talk with newly hired University of Illinois assistant coach Jerrance Howard last night. He is excited about the opportunity, and can't wait to get out on the recruiting trail. Howard will take the NCAA Compliance Test today, get his new cell phone, and will then pretty much get right after it on the trail.

Class of 2009 Chicago Hales Franciscan star D.J. Cooper can flat out play! His teammate, 6-3 Class of 2010 star Brandon Spearman can flat out play as well! With Oregon-bound Matthew Humphrey, Josh Crittle and 6-6 Jordan Walker, Hales is flat out loaded with big time players!

You should probably get used to reading the University of Kentucky popping up on school lists for top Illinois prospects. New assistant coach Tracy Webster has been popping up all over the state of Illinois. Kentucky was already on the trail of 6-8 Class of 2009 star Jordan Prosser of Eureka High School, and now they are on him even harder.

Jim Fox of Davidson University is a really good guy.

Keep an eye out for Class of 2008 Chicago Marshall standout Ardarius Simmons. Simmons, a 5-10 guard, is a player who you don't hear nearly enough about, but he is a steady and poised player who gets points from everywhere on the floor. Look for Simmons, 6-2 junior star Darius Smith, and 6-3 senior star Ryan Hare to lead a Marshall team that once again ranks among the very best in the state of Illinois.

Now fully healthy, and shooting the basketball "lights out", Class of 2008 Highland Park star Josh Bartelstein is poised to continue to see his recruiting stock soar. Bartelstein, who stands 6-3, is a versatile player who is capable of playing either guard slot. He emerged during the month of July while playing on the travel team circuit with the Rising Stars with a series of shooting clinics on the basketball court.

Bradley University Associate Head Coach Eric Buescher is a fast-rising star in the coaching ranks who is held in high regard.

6-9 Delino Dear of Chicago Mount Carmel is a Class of 2009 prospect to watch. Dear is tall, long and runs the floor like a deer. His skills are still developing, but with some added weight and muscle he is a prospect who holds some very nice upside potential. Dear competes on the travel team circuit with Larry Butler's Illinois Warriors.

6-5 forward Monroe Brooks of Palatine High School has a scholarship offer on the table from Division I Central Connecticut State, and is expected to visit the school in October. Brooks spent time this summer on the travel team circuit with Dickey Simpkins' Team NLP. Brooks also has an offer from Division II power Massachusetts-Lowell.

6-5 Tyler Thompson of West Aurora is poised to have a big senior season. Tough, hardnosed and highly versatile, Thompson was one of the top performers on a 17-U Illinois Wolves team that already have 7 Division I college basketball commitments.

American University is giving 6-10 Class of 2008 Stagg High School star Marty Strus a hard look.
