Class of 2009 star Marcus Jordan was named MVP as the Rising Stars won the 16-U age division at the Windy City Classic over the weekend. The Rising Stars also got strong play from Chris Colvin of Chicago Whitney Young and Jack Cooley of Glenbrook South. Nik Garcia of Niles West hit a huge three-point basket in the semifinals to power the team into the championship game.

Class of 2008 Chicago Washington star DeAndre Liggins had another strong weekend on the basketball court with Indiana Elite. Elite, which won the Adidas May Classic over the weekend, got a 32-point, 4 three-point basket effort from Liggins in a game against the SoCal All-Stars. Lewis Jackson (Decatur Eisenhower) and Matt Roth (Washington) also played big roles as Elite rolled to the 17-U title.

Former Bloomington High School star Dodie Dunson will be transferring from Iowa State.

6-7 Class of 2007 Chicago Leo standout Diante Gaskew has decided to play his college basketball for Northeast Nebraska Community College. N.E. Nebraska already has former Leo star Kijuane Leach on campus, and previously was home for former Homewood-Flossmoor star Cyrus Tate who is now at the University of Iowa.

Iowa has picked up on the recruiting trail of Class of 2008 Washington star Matt Roth. Roth, a 6-2 shooting guard, is the top shooter in the state of Illinois. I have said many times that if you leave him open from 30 feet in, you can pretty much count the shot.

I have to throw out a shout to Paul Lee from Northwestern University who has really been pounding the recruiting trail, and was instrumental in Northwestern's landing of Class of 2008 Batavia star Nick Fruendt.

Class of 2008 Jacobs star John Moran visited both Dayton and Wright State over the weekend. Moran, a 6-0 point guard, has seen his recruiting stock soar this spring with his strong play on the travel team circuit with the Illinois Wolves.

Billy Garrett is now the Associate head coach at the University of Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

Look for former Chicago Washington star Mario Little of Chipola Junior College, and former Chicago Von Steuben star Jeremie Simmons of Mott Community College to be two highly sought after juco recruits next year.

Greg Ktistou has taken over the reigns as the new head coach at Downers Grove North High School.
