Brust ranks as one of the top Class of 2010 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois. Brust, a 6'2" shooting guard, is known for his ability to score the basketball from all points of the floor. Brust has put up big offensive numbers througout his high school career, and was among the leading offensive players in the state of Illinois as a junior before an injury cut his season short. Brust told ChicagoHoops.com that he is very excited about the direction of where the Iowa program is headed. Brust said, "Iowa fit me both as a person, and also as a player." Brust went on to say that he is very excited about getting the opportunity to play alongside of Rising Stars alum Cully Payne, and that he just got back from an unofficial visit to the Iowa campus yesterday. Brust becomes the latest member of the 17-U Rising Stars to offer a verbal commitment joining Lenzelle Smith (Ohio State), Alex Rossi (California) and Fred Heldring (William & Mary). Brust selected Iowa over Northwestern, Butler and Stanford. Brust, and his 17-U Rising Stars teammates will be in action July 9-11 at the loaded Chicago Summer Classic in Deerfield, Illinois. |
