Class of 2010 Mundelein star Ben Brust of the Rising Stars has picked up a Big 10 scholarship offer from the University of Iowa. Brust ranks among the top 2010 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois.

Brust, a 6'1" shooting guard, is known for his ability to score the basketball with his jump shot. Brust was a big scorer for Mundelein as a sophomore, and was off to a strong start to his junior season ahead of having his year cut short by a leg injury. He returned to live game action earlier this month.

Iowa head coach Todd Lickliter observed Brust at an open gym session on Tuesday night. Stanford head coach Johnny Dawkins, Dayton head coach Brian Gregory, Butler head coach Brad Stevens, and Northwestern were also among the long line of schools on hand.

Brust already holds a host of scholarship offers from a long line of schools including Davidson, Butler, Southern Illinois to name a few. Iowa is the first high-major program to extend an offer.

Mike Weinstein of the Rising Stars confirmed the scholarship offer.
