Head coach Jim Baron, and the University of Rhode Island, have scored secured a recruiting coup, and have landed former Thornton Fractional North star Kyle Cain of New Hampton Prep. Cain was one of the top prospects in the state of Illinois as a high school senior.

Cain, a 6'7" forward, initially verballed to the University of Detroit-Mercy as a senior at Thornton Fractional North. He has seen his recruiting stock skyrocket over the course of the past year and a half on the heels of strong efforts both at T.F. North, and also on the travel team circuit with the Illinois Warriors.

Cain, who had recently narrowed down his list of schools to Rhode Island, Northern Illinois, Nevada and Wisconsin-Green Bay noted that he was happy to have his decision behind him. “Yes, I am very relieved and happy to have my decision. I feel good. I’m very happy to be a Runnin’ Ram,” said Cain.

Cain also noted, “The reason I picked Rhode Island, is because like I said before I wanted to play for coaches that love Kyle Cain, and that is what I got at Rhode Island. Coach Baron was just excited to coach me as I was to play for him, and his playing style was a big boost to me.”

Cain is now focused on the coming season at New Hampton and said, “I want to win a championship at New Hampton School because they have a history of winning, and I want to apart of that history.”
