Head Coach Heath Schroyer, Anthony Stewart And The University Of Wyoming Score A Recruiting Coup, And Secure A Verbal From Class Of 2012 St. Joseph Star Cameron Harvey Brian Stinnette November 9, 2009 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com Head coach Heath Schroyer, and the University of Wyoming have scored a recruiting coup, and have landed Class of 2012 St. Joseph High School star Cameron Harvey of Indiana Elite. Harvey rates as one of the top 2012 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois. Harvey, a 6'3" shooting guard, is an explosive athlete who delivers with his size, strength and ability to make plays on both ends of the basketball court. Harvey is a versatile player who played very strong on the travel team circuit on an Indiana Elite team that also featured D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera (Indianapolis North Central), Peter Jurkin and Hanner Perea. Brian Harvey, Cameron's father, cofirmed the commitment to Wyoming, and noted that Cameron committed on Saturday while on campus for his second unofficial visit to the school. Harvey mentioned the strong engineering program at Wyoming, and the strong relationship that had been built with head coach Heath Schroyer, assistant coach Anthony Stewart, and the entire coaching staff at Wyoming as major factors in Cameron's decision to commit. Harvey went on to note that the Wyoming program is currently loaded with freshmen and sophomore's, and that they will be looking to bring in a strong 2012 recruiting class, and that Cameron will have an opportunity to come in, and be an immediate impact player for Wyoming. Wyoming has had tremendous success with recruits from the state of Illinois including Brandon Ewing (Chicago Julian), Jason Straight (Chicago Dunbar) and Justin Williams (Thornwood). Harvey becomes the second member of the Illinois Class of 2012 to make a verbal commitment joining Jay Simpson (Champaign Central), who is verballed to Purdue. This year, Harvey will be a part of a loaded, and veteran St. Joseph team that will also feature Wayne Simon, DeAndre McCamey, Mantas Dubauskas and Brandon Carr, and will again be among the best in the state of Illinois. |
