Class Of 2012 Lake Forest High School Freshman Star Carter Bass Of Kessel's Heat Impressing With His Hard-Nosed Style On The Basketball Court Brian Stinnette February 8, 2010 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com Class of 2012 Lake Forest High School star Carter Bass of Kessel's Heat is enjoying a strong freshman year on the basketball court. Bass has been cool under pressure all year, and has established himself as one of the top Class of 2012 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois. Bass, a 6'2" shooting guard, is a tough and hard-nosed backcourt performer who excels with his ability to make plays on both ends of the floor. Bass has not only been a key offensive contributor, but has been very strong defensive player who regularly draws tough assignments. Bass stepped up huge defensively in a win over Mundelein, and spent much of his time on the floor guarding Ben Brust (Iowa), and helping to limit him to 7-18 shooting from the floor. Kyle Kessel of Kessel's Heat travel team program describes Bass as a terrific on-the-ball defender and rebounder, who also has the ability to score the ball both inside and outside. Bass will be the "go-to" guy with Kessel's 15-U team this spring. Lake Forest is led by high-scoring senior Mitch Hopfinger, who last year teamed with Matt Vogrich (Michigan), to form a dominant offensive duo. This year, Hopfinger has taken on the lead role, and along with some key play from youngsters like Bass, and sophomore Thomas Durrett, have staked Lake Forest to a 13-8 overall record, and first place in the North Suburban Lake Conference. Carter Bass is a name that you will hear a lot about in the coming years. Bass, and his Lake Forest High School teammates will next be in action on Tuesday night at Highland Park High School. |
