Former Rich South Star Carlton Guyton Of Juco Heavyweight Mineral Area College Set To Take His Place As One Of The Top Junior College Basketball Prospects In The Country Chicago Hoops June 30, 2009 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com Former Rich South star Carlton Guyton of Missouri-based junior college heavyweight Mineral Area College heads into his sophomore season poised to take his place as one of the top junior college basketball prospects in the country. Guyton, a 6'3" shooting guard, is a long and silky-smooth backcourt talent who has the ability to score the basketball in a variety of ways. Guyton has the ability to get points from long-range, mid-range, and also with his ability to create off the dribble. He takes over as one of the leaders of a Mineral Area team that lost a wealth of talent to graduation including Mike Stovall (DePaul). Mineral Area assistant coach Sean Pryor notes that Guyton is a "Gym Rat". He went on to describe Guyton as a player who has the ability to take over games when necessary with his ability to score the basketball. Guyton already has a long line of schools actively on his hot on his trail including Drake, Kent State, DePaul, Loyola, Eastern Illinois, Northern Illinois, and Cal State-Northridge to name a few. Guyton will be in action on July 14 at the 2009 Midwest Juco SuperStar Exposure Showcase in Merrillville, Indiana. Guyton competed with the Illinois Ice travel team program as a prep. |
