Head Coach Lennox Forrester, And Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Score A Recruiting Coup, And Land Class Of 2011 O'Fallon Township Star Charles Joy Of The Southwestern Illinois Jets Cavan Walsh April 13, 2010 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com Head coach Lennox Forrester, and Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville have struck on the 2011 recruiting trail, and have picked up a verbal commitment from Class of 2011 O'Fallon Township High School star Charles Joy of the Southwestern Illinois Jets. Joy rates as one of the top prospects in a loaded Illinois Class of 2011. Joy, a 6'4" small forward, is an explosive athlete who excels with his ability to impact games both inside and outside. This past high school season, Joy teamed with fellow 2011 star Roosevelt Jones to form one of the top duo's in the state of Illinois. The coaching staff at SIUE was a major part of Joy's decision to commit. “Well, first I love all the coaches there. They have been with me since day one offering a scholarship as a freshman. They also are just good guys, and every time I went there I could tell that they were interested in me, and were very genuine. Secondly, the players there are really cool, and the team chemistry off the court also means a lot to me, and they definitely had that. Third, the style of play is like O’Fallon. I’m used to creating my own shot, and the style of play is very similar,” said Joy. Joy, and his Southwestern Illinois Jets teammates, will be in action at the Nike Spring Showdown April 23-25 in Merrillville, Indiana. |
