Class of 2009 star D.J. Cooper of MeanStreets now has a scholarship offer on the table from Kent State University. Cooper ranks as one of the top Class of 2009 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois.

Cooper, a 5-9 point guard, is enjoying a stellar spring on the travel team circuit including a dominant effort at the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions which saw him lead the event in scoring en route to being an All-Tournament selection.

Cooper has starred on the basketball court during the first three years of high school for Catholic League powerhouse Chicago Hales Franciscan. Last year, Cooper was a part of a loaded Hales Franciscan team that also included Matthew Humphrey (Oregon), Josh Crittle (Oregon) and Class of 2010 standout Brandon Spearman who is now at Chicago Simeon.

Kent State, which has a roster that currently includes former Chicago Farragut star Chris Singletary, is looking to recruit Chicago extensively under new head coach Geno Ford, associate head coach Rob Senderoff, and assistant coach Armon Gates, who is a former Hillcrest High School star.
