6'7" Former Oak Park-River Forest Star Christian Cornelius, A Southern Illinois Transfer, Headed To Mercyhurst College Chicago Hoops April 16, 2009 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com Head coach Gary Manchel, Brendan Mullins and Mercyhurst College have landed for Oak Park-River Forest star Christian Cornelius, who will transfer into the program from Southern Illinois University. Cornelius, a 6'7" power forward, averaged 21 points and 8 rebounds per game as a high school senior at Oak Park-River Forest, and was a 1st Team West Suburban Silver Conference pick. He enjoyed a standout season at Brewster Academy ahead of signing on with SIU. Cornelius joins a Mercyhurst program that now has a distinct Illinois flavor with former Downers Grove South star Brendan Mullins on staff. Cornelius will join a program that already features Jeremiah Wise (Proviso East), Elliot Engelmann (Downers Grove South) and Eric Travis (Hinsdale South). |
