Former Proviso West Star Robert Covington Of Tennessee State University Named Ohio Valley Conference Freshman Of The Week Chicago Hoops November 17, 2009 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com Former Proviso West star Robert Covington of Tennessee State University has been named Freshman of the Week in the Ohio Valley Conference. Covington was one of the top Class of 2009 prospects in the state of Illinois last year as a high school senior. Covington, a 6'7" forward, recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in Tennessee State's exhibition win over Trevecca Nazerene. Covington then scored 21 points, including dropping 5-9 from behind the three-point arc, in Tennessee State's loss to Siena to open the season. Head coach John Cooper, and assistant coach Dana Ford have made recruiting Chicago a priority. They have Covington, and have already inked Chicago Hales Franciscan star Patrick Miller into their 2010 recruiting class. Covington competed on the travel team circuit with the Illinois Bobcats as a prep. |
