Chicago Public League Player of the Year DeAndre Thomas Signs With The Junior College Powerhouse Brian Stinnette August 20, 2005 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com Greg Heiar, and Florida-based junior college powerhouse Chipola College have struck once again in the city of Chicago! Chicago Westinghouse star DeAndre Thomas, The 2005 ChicagoHoops.com Player of the Year in the Chicago Public League, has signed to play basketball for Chipola. Thomas, a 6-7 post who originally signed to play at the University of Missouri, is a big time talent. He is a true space-eater inside who has the ability to score at will close to the basket. Thomas also has a soft touch on jumper which allows him to step out, and drop mid-range jumpers as well. Heiar and Chipola have taken recruiting Chicago to a whole new level. The Chipola roster is loaded with former Chicago Public League superstars. Thomas, who arrived on campus this evening, joins a roster that includes 6-4 Jamarcus Ellis (Chicago Westinghouse), 6-0 Stefhon Hannah (Chicago Hyde Park), 6-5 Ryne Hamblet (Chicago Von Steuben), 6-6 Johnny Harris (Chicago Vocational) and 6-8 Jeremiah Bryant (Chicago Harlan). Chipola, which made a strong run at the National Championship a year ago, figures to be just as strong this season with a roster that includes as many as six future high-major players, and another six mid-major talents. |
