Former Chicago Simeon and University of Illinois basketball star Deon Thomas has been hired as the new head basketball coach, and athletic director at Lewis & Clark Community College. Thomas played professionally overseas for 14 years after closing out a stellar career at the University of Illinois.

Thomas replaces Doug Stotler who resigned to become athletic director at Jefferson Community College in Missouri.

Fast-rising assistant coach Milton Stith will remain on staff with Thomas at Lewis & Clark, which can be expected to continue their great recruiting success in Chicago.

At Illinois, Thomas scored better than 2100 points for his career, and was a three-time team MVP for Illinois in addition to earning All-American honors as a senior.
