Player Diary: Dwight McCombs of Chicago Whitney Young High School
Dwight McCombs Special to ChicagoHoops.com June 24, 2005 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com 6-7 Dwight McCombs of Chicago Whitney Young High School rates as one of the top Class of 2007 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois. Follow along as Dwight gives us an inside look at his life both on and off of the basketball court. This is Dwight McCombs, and this is the second installment of my Player Diary for ChicagoHoops.com. Things are going real good on the basketball court right now. My AAU team, MeanStreets Express, is really starting to gel as a team. We started out a little bit slow, but we have come on strong, and are now starting to put it all together as a team. I am spending the month of June playing with my high school team, Chicago Whitney Young. We are a little bit rusty because we haven't played a lot together recently, and we are focusing heavily on getting our team chemistry together. This past week, we competed at the University of Illinois Team Camp. Tyrone Slaughter is our new coach. One thing that everyone on the team knows, is that Coach Slaughter is going to have our team in top basketball condition. We are going to be in for lots, and lots, and lots of running. I am lifting weights every other day. I am also working on improving my handle, my jumper and my post moves. It's all about getting better on the basketball court. I am looking forward to the month of July, and the challenge of playing on the AAU circuit. The challenge of playing against the best always makes me rise up, and play harder. There is nothing better than stepping on the floor, and knowing that you are competing against players with national reputations. Until Next Time, Dwight McCombs Chicago Whitney Young High School |
