6'9" Class Of 2011 Chicago St. Ignatius Star Nnana Egwu Gives A Sampling Of What The Future Holds With A Highly Impressive Weekend Showing Chicago Hoops December 15, 2008 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com Class of 2011 Chicago St. Ignatius star Nnana Egwu gave a sampling as to why he is a highly regarded prospect on Sunday as the fast-developing post prospect put on full display his ability to use his size to impact games on both ends of the floor. Egwu, a 6'9" post, is a tall, long and mobile post who brings a tremendous amount of upside potential to the table. Egwu, has only been playing basketball for a short time, was slowed early in the season by injury, but appears to be rounding into form. Against Marshall, Egwu changed the game for his team with his shot-blocking and rebounding inside. The big fella allowed St. Ignatius to withstand a series of furious fourth quarter comeback attempts by Marshall with his timely rebounds, and the fact that he was able to keep the ball away from Marshall by holding the ball high, and using his 6'9" frame and long arms to protect the basketball. Offensively, ran the floor, and was rewarded with a pair of alley-oop jams that had St. Ignatius fans buzzing. Egwu showed an ability to knock down a mid-range jump shot as the crowd, which included coaches from Indiana, Purdue, Wisconsin and Iowa looked on, and came away extremely intrigued with the fast-developing post prospect. Egwu, who currently ranks as the top post prospect in the loaded Illinois Class of 2011, is also a stellar student in the classroom, and is a player who can expect to continue to see his recruitment soar as he continues to refine his game on the basketball court. |
