Class of 2010 Chicago Lincoln Park star Mike Gabriel is off to a strong start on the travel team circuit this spring with the Rising Stars Blue team, and continues to enhance his game on the basketball court. Gabriel ranks as one of the top 2010 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois.

Gabriel, a 6'7" post, is a strong and physical prescence inside. Gabriel is a highly productive player who plays the game with a hardnosed, blue-collar style. Gabriel is a tireless rebounder who is at his best scoring the ball in the paint.

Last year, Gabriel picked up a scholarship offer from Northern Illinois University. Gabriel's father, Fred Gabriel, notes that a number of Ivy League schools including Brown, Penn and Yale have also picked up on his trail. The University of Detroit Mercy has also been actively tracking Gabriel on the basketball court.

Gabriel is part of a solid group of 2010 post prospects in the state of Illinois that also includes 6'10" Meyers Leonard (Robinson), 6'8" Phillip Jackson (Chicago Providence St. Mel), 6'10" Jordan Threloff (DeKalb), 6'8" Tim Rusthoven (Wheaton Academy) and 6'9" David Dudzinski (Kaneland).

Gabriel, Demarko Nash (Chicago Lincoln Park), Andrew Ziemnik (Oswego), Shawn Wallace (Niles Notre Dame), Aric Dickerson (Chicago Lincoln Park) and Josh Rappaport (Grayslake) will be in action later this month at the Nike Spring Showdown In Indiana presented by ChicagoHoops.com.
