Head coach Chris Lowery, and Southern Illinois University have once again struck on the recruiting trail, and have landed Class of 2008 Chicago Marshall star Ryan Hare. Hare ranks as one of the top 2008 prospects in the state of Illinois.

Hare, a 6-3 wing, is a do-it-all player on the basketball court who excels on both ends of the floor. Hare was a four-year varsity performer at Marshall, and was a star as a sophomore and junior on Marshall teams that finished 3rd in the IHSA Class AA state tournament, and was also a star this past season on a Marshall team that won the Class 3A state championship.

Hare joins a stellar Southern Illinois recruiting class that also includes Homewood-Flossmoor star Kevin Dillard, the 2008 Illinois Mr. Basketball. 6-8 Anthony Booker and 6-4 Torres Roundtree, two of the top prospects from the state of Missouri are also a part of Chris Lowery's stellar 2008 class. Class of 2007 Bloomington High School star Justin Bocot, who sat out this year at SIU, will also be ready to play next season.

Morris Hare, the brother of Ryan Hare, noted that Ryan committed to Southern Illinois during his visit to the SIU campus this weekend. He mentioned the opportunity to be a part of a "special" SIU recruiting class, the fact that everything seemed to fit, and that the coaching staff made it clear that Ryan was a major priority as being among the factors for selecting Southern Illinois.

Hare is expected to officially sign with Southern Illinois later this week once the signing period begins.
