2010 Star Anthony Shoemaker, And Joliet Township To Lock Up With 2011 Star Roosevelt Jones, and O'Fallon Township In A Match-Up Pitting Two Of The Most Versatile Players In The State Opposite Of One Another Brian Stinnette March 15, 2010 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com The superb all-around skills of Class of 2010 star Anthony Shoemaker of Joliet Township, and Class of 2011 star Roosevelt Jones, of O'Fallon Township will be on display on Tuesday night when their teams meet for the IHSA Class 4A ISU SuperSectional title. Shoemaker, who stands 6'6", has very quietly been magnificent for Joliet Township throughout the season en route to leading his team to a 24-6 record. Shoemaker can be plugged into any position on the floor. He spends a good deal of time running the point for Joliet Township, and has the ability to dominate with his passing, scoring, rebounding or his smothering defense. Jones, who checks in at 6'4" and 210-pounds, is an equally dominant all-around force who averages 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists per contest. Like Shoemaker, Jones can assume pretty much any role that his team needs, and can do it at a high level. Jones is not only the "go-to" guy offensively for O'Fallon, but is their defensive stopper as well. The Joliet Township/O'Fallon Township game will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. at Illinois State University. The winner will advance downstate to the IHSA Class 4A state finals, and will face the Chicago Simeon/Benet Academy winner in the semifinals on Friday night. |
