Class of 2009 Glenbrook South star Jack Cooley of the Rising Stars closed out the month of July very strong, and in turn is seeing his recruiting stock continue to rise. Cooley ranks as one of the top Class of 2009 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois.
Cooley, a 6-8 post, brings size, athleticism and a willingness to bang inside to the table. This year, while competing on the spring and summer travel team circuit with the 16-U Rising Stars, Cooley anchored the post on a star-studded Rising Stars team that also included Illinois-bound Jereme Richmond, Chris Colvin (Chicago Whitney Young), Marcus Jordan (Chicago Whitney Young), Nik Garcia (Niles West) and Cortney Bell (Chicago Lincoln Park).
Cooley's strong efforts on the basketball court have paid big dividends as he now sports scholarship offers from Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois and Loyola. He also has the likes of Iowa and Northwestern both among the high-major programs paying very close attention to his progress.
Cooley is definetely a prospect who you can expect to continue to hear a lot about over the course of the next year.
