6-0 Jacob Pullen of Proviso East High School rates as one of the top Class of 2007 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois. Follow along as Jacob gives us an inside look at his recruitment, and his life both on and off of the basketball court.

This is Jacob Pullen from Proviso East High School, and this is the first installment of my Player Diary for ChicagoHoops.com.

I played with MeanStreets this summer on the AAU basketball circuit. I am pretty happy about how my summer went. I got a lot of good exposure, and felt like I played pretty well in some big tournaments. My high school team, Proviso East, won the Illinois Team Camp. That was a great experience.

I am really focused right now on improving as a player. I am working on improving my vertical jump, and I have started to work with a personal trainer. On the basketball court, my strength is the fact that I have the ability to do some of everything on the floor, and the fact that I play hard on both offense and defense.

This season, my high school team is going to play an extremely tough schedule. We have a game scheduled on ESPN against Lawrence North (IN), and Greg Oden. It should be a great game since Oden will be matched up against our big man, Brian Carlwell. I am really looking forward to that game because I am going to go head-to-head with Mike Conley. I have never seen him play, but I have heard a lot about him, and I know he has committed to play for Ohio State. I love to play in big games! I can't wait. We also are going to play both St. Joseph's, and also Chicago Simeon.

Our team is going to surprise some people. J.P. Stanback transferred in from Leyden, and that gives us another offensive weapon. We have a lot of sleepers. I am very much looking forward to the upcoming season.

I am hearing from a lot of schools right now. Wisconsin-Green Bay and Valparaiso have both offered me a scholarship. I am also hearing from Ball State, Purdue, Iowa, Baylor, Wisconsin, Northern Iowa, Illinois and Illinois State.

That's all that I have for now, but before I go I would like to acknowledge my mom, my dad and also my sister, and to thank them for all that they have done for me.

Until Next Time,

Jacob Pullen
