6'7" Class Of 2011 Star Jamari Traylor Is Ready To Get Down To Business At IMG Academy Cavan Walsh August 30, 2010 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com Class of 2011 star Jamari Traylor of Mean Streets turned a lot of heads this spring and summer, and is now set to play out his final year at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Traylor was scheduled to arrive at IMG over the weekend. Traylor, a 6'7" strong and highly athletic power forward, saw his recruiting stock skyrocket last season at Chicago Julian while playing for Loren Jackson. Traylor continued his strong play on the travel team circuit with Mean Streets, and starred alongside of Kentucky-bound Anthony Davis (Chicago Perspectives), who is now considered the top prospect in the country. Traylor is on the radar screen of a number of programs from around the country. “Missouri, St. John’s, Dayton, Bradley, West Virginia, UTEP, Arizona, Minnesota, Colorado, and Washington State are all showing levels of interest at the moment,” said Traylor. Traylor was quite pleased with his summer. “I think it went great. I got some big-time exposure with the Mean Streets and colleges were able to see me. At the end of day that and winning is all that really matters. Individually, I think I got after it every game. I thought I played hard and showed people that I have an offensive game instead of just dunks and blocks.” Traylor is ready to get down to business at IMG. I want to go down there and really do well. I think with Phil and myself leading the team we will go undefeated. I want to win it all, and then be able to pick out any college that I want to attend. Those are my two goals, and just going from there,” said Traylor. “I want to make an immediate impact on the team my freshman year, and I want to go to a program where the coaches care about their players and teammates that gel together like a family.” Andy Borman, a Duke alum who used to run the Illinois Old School travel team program, is the new head coach at IMG Academy. |
