Mike McCall (Chicago Foreman) drained a game-winning basket in overtime to lead the Sonics to a 66-63 over Jack Cooley (Glenbrook South) and the Blazers in an action-packed contest. Meanwhile, Lenzelle Smith (Zion-Benton) scored 23 points while teaming with Illinois-bound Jereme Richmond (Waukegan) to lead the Suns to a 74-61 win over the Spurs as the Rising Stars Fall Exposure League presented by ChicagoHoops.com tipped on Sunday.

In the Sonics win over the Blazers, a potential game-winning shot in regulation by the Sonics with the score tied at 63 was waved off by a charging call. In overtime, Class of 2010 star Lavonte Dority (Chicago Foreman) had a game-winning attempt denied inside by Cooley which then set the stage for McCall's heroics as he buried a jumper from the corner to win the game. McCall paced the Sonics with 18 points, while Dority chipped in with 10. John Kinsler led the Blazers with 14 points.

Class of 2010 stars Lenzelle Smith and Jereme Richmond formed quite the duo as the Suns topped the Spurs. Smith scored the basketball from pretty much everywhere on the floor, and was on the receiving end of a number of dazzling passes from Richmond, who spent a good deal of his time running the point. Richmond scored on an alley-oop jam off of an in-bounds pass with 8 seconds left in the first half. The Spurs, who were a bit shorthanded with 6-10 Jake Lindfors on a college visit to Albany, got a great effort from Chase Berman who dropped 21 points.

In other action, the Mavs defeated Harvard-bound Peter Boehm (New Trier) and the Rockets 72-60. The Mavs trailed 49-43 in the second half before Class of 2010 star Kenny Stevenson (Seton Academy) scored 13 straight points to put his team in control with a 56-49 margin. Keith Ford (North Chicago) was strong for the Mavs throughout, and led the team with 23 points. Tim McCrary (New Trier) scored 16 points and Jamie Gahlon (New Trier) scored 15 points for the Rockets.

The Lakers were missing Class of 2008 star Josh Crittle (Chicago Hales Franciscan), who was on a visit to Kansas State, However, Northern Illinois-bound Mike DiNunno (Chicago Von Steuben) and Jon Patino each scored 21 points to pick up the slack as the Lakers defeated the Warriors 85-79. DiNunno iced the game in the closing seconds at the free throw line. Andy Rochon (Mundelein) scored 22 points, and Class of 2010 star Ben Brust (Mundelein) scored 18 for the Warriors.

In a head-to-head battle of future Divison I point guards Cornell-bound Chris Wroblewski (Highland Park) and the Nuggets defeated DePaul-bound Cully Payne (Schaumburg) and Hornets 45-30 in a defensive struggle. In the late games, Jeremy Montgomery (Chicago Lincoln Park) and the Jazz topped the Clippers, and Class of 2011 star Andre Henley (Chicago De La Salle) and the Grizzlies topped the Kings.

In junior varsity games, Rodney Metellus scored 24 points to lead the Bulls to a 65-60 win over the Heat. Metullus was backed up by 16 points from Martell Moore and Adam Fayson with 13 points. Jared Prince led the Heat with 18 points. The Nets topped the Magic 68-46 with Taylor Moore scoring 19 points and Ruben Williams chipping in with 16 points for the winners. Kyle Haley led the Magic with 12 points.

The Pacers used a highly balanced offensive attack to defeat the Knicks 80-54 with Aric Dickerson (Chicago Lincoln Park) scoring 17 points, Tyrone Allen (Homewood-Flossmoor) scoring 15 points and Demarko Nash (Chicago Lincoln Park) adding 12 points. Ramson Yountham led the way for the Knicks with 25 points.

In other action, Dylan Bartuch scored 14 points to lead the Bucks to a 49-41 win over the Sixers. Tony Pierce (Evanston) led the Sixers with 15 points. The Bobcats topped the Celtics 44-41, and the Cavs defeated the Pistons 58-48.
