6-6 Cory Hrynyk And 6-7 John Bagge Combine For 49 Points To Power The Hornets In Week 4 Action At The Rising Stars Fall League
6-6 Cory Hrynyk and 6-7 Hillsdale-bound John Bagge combined to score 49 points to power the Hornets past the Clippers 90-66. Hrynyk scored 25 points, and Bagge added 24 points in the Hornets triumph. 6-7 Markus Yarbrough of the Raptors, Ronald Steward of the Suns, and Brad Johnstin of the Wolves also had huge scoring efforts in Week 4 action at the Rising Stars Fall League presented by ChicagoHoops.com.
Hrynyk and Bagge's effort for the Hornets was needed to offset a 22-point game from Keith Ford of the Clippers, who also got 15 points from Mike Bumber. Andrew Gallow (Oswego) scored 22 points, Ryan Shelton (Rockford Harlem) scored 12, Chris McClellan (Wheeling) 11 and Michael Henley scored 10 to lead a balanced Grizzlies attack past the Sonics 80-60. Pat Rourke (DeKalb) scored 11 points, and 6-10 Jordan Threloff (DeKalb) added 10 points led the Sonics.
Markus Yarbrough (Zion-Benton) was unstoppable inside with 24 points to lead the Raptors to a 99-72 win over the Jazz. Yarbrough was backed up by Al Cherry with 15 points and David Pilalis and Marquise Thomas who each scored 13 points. Tyrone Allen (Homewood-Flossmoor) led the Jazz with 20 points. Brad Johnstin dialed it up from long range to the tune of 26 points to lead the Wolves over the Mavs 64-61 in a game that wasn't decided until the final seconds. Nick Marinkovich led the Mavs with 19 points and 6-7 Michael Gabriel added 15 points.
Ronald Steward (Zion-Benton) pumped in 24 points to lead the undefeated Suns to a 81-40 win over the Lakers. Lenzelle Smith (Zion-Benton) scored 15 points and Colin Nickerson scored 12 to back up Steward. The Lakers were led by Daylan Anderson with 11 points and Issa Avery with 7 points. Meanwhile, Paul Williams scored 14 points and Paul Tometich scored 11 as the Kings topped the Blazers 79-58. The Blazers were led by Nik Garcia (Niles West) with 11 points.
Cornell-bound Chris Wroblewski Highland Park) led the way with 19 points as the Nuggets beat the Rockets 64-51. Brad Deutsch backed up Wroblewski with 12 points. Alex Rossi (New Trier) scored 13 points and Jamie Gahlon (New Trier) added 10 points for the Rockets. Mike Goldstein scored 11 points, Grant Johnson scored 10, Albany-bound Jake Lindfors and Chase Berman each scored 9 as the Spurs topped the Warriors 53-44. Kenny Branch scored 16 points included 3 three-pointers, and Navjot Singh scored 14 points for the Warriors.
In Frosh/Soph action, the Pistons topped the Heat 61-69 in a thrilling game. Robert Robinson led the way for the Pistons with 17 points. He was backed up by Marquise Thomas who scored 13, and Michael Mache who scored 12 points. Craig Burton and Robert Ritacca each scored 12 points for the Heat with Matt Palucki adding 11.
James Elam scored 22 points, Joseph Bulliner scored 18 and Martell Moore added 14 points as the Bulls defeated the Magic 75-61. Julian Owens led the Magic with 13 points. The Knicks edged the Bucks 64-63 with Leavon Head scoring 16 points, Ramson Yountham scoring 14 and Matthew Dickinson adding 12 points for the Knicks. Dylan Bartuch again led the Bucks with 20 points with John Androus chipping in another 18 points.
John King led a balanced Wizards attack with 14 points. Aric Dickerson added 13 and Demarko Nash scored 12 points for the Wizards to lead a big 61-60 win over the Celtics. Jack Ryan tossed in 18 points and Justin Wasik scored 16 points to lead the Celtics. Harris Habibviz powered his way to 25 points, and Connor Boehm scored 15 points as the Bobcats defeated the 76ers 63-50. Tony Pierce scored 14 points for the 76ers and Devin Powell added 13 points.
The Pacers nudged past the Hawks 56-53 with D'Wayne Brantley leading the way with 20 points, and Ryan Sawvell adding 16 points. The Hawks were led by Paul Williams with 13 points and Owen Worthington with 11 points. Meanwhile, Sam Savaglio and Ruben Williams each scored 13 points, and Reggie Greenwood added 9 points as the Nets beat the Cavs 62-52. Michael Gabriel led the Cavs with 16 points with Cole Stern chipping in 11 points, and Brian McHugh scoring 10 points.
