Dre Henley Scores 26 Points To Power The Undefeated Grizzlies, The Warriors End The Suns Undefeated Streak, And Tim McCrary And Rodney Clinkscales Score Big In Rising Stars Fall League Action
Class of 2011 Chicago De La Salle star Dre Henley scored 26 points to lead the undefeated Grizzlies past the Blazers, and Navjot Singh (Mundelein) lead a balanced team effort by the Warriors who snapped Illinois-bound Jereme Richmond, and the Suns undefeated string. Meanwhile, Tim McCrary and Rodney Clinkscales put up huge offensive efforts to power their teams to wins in Week 5 action at the Rising Stars Fall League.
Class of 2011 star Dre Henley (Chicago De La Salle) scored 26 points, Ryan Shelton (Rockford Harlem) scored 20 points, and Chris McClellan (Wheeling) ran the show as the Grizzlies remained undefeated by defeating the Blazers 85-68. 6-8 Jack Cooley (Glenbrook South) led the Blazers with 18 points.
Tim McCrary powered home 32 points while Alex Rossi (New Trier) scored 12, and Harvard-bound Peter Boehm (New Trier) added 10 points to overcome a 29-point effort from Brad Johnstin (Richmond-Burton) to lead the Rockets to a 79-71 win over the Wolves. The Raptors utilized a 30-point effort from Rodney Clinkscales (Zion-Benton) to edge the Clippers 81-80 in a game that wasn't decided until the closing seconds. D.J Hening and Mike Bumber led a balanced effort by the Clippers with 15 points each.
Cornell-bound Chris Wroblewski scored 27 points including 5 three-pointers, and Tellef Lundevall added 26 points to power the Nuggets to a 71-61 win over the Spurs. The Spurs were led by Albany-bound Jake Lindfors (Driscoll) who scored 10 points and Mike Goldstein with 9 points, and SIU-Edwardsville-bound Kevin Stineman (Stevenson) with 9 points.
Tony Nixon (Seton Academy) scored 16 points and Kyle Maggio (St. Laurence) scored 15 points to lead the Mavs to a 72-63 win over the Lakers. Gozie Umeadi (Fenton) led the Lakers with 19 points with Jon Patino scoring 12, and Josh Crittle (Chicago Hales Franciscan) adding 10 points for the Lakers.
Behind 20 points from Navjot Singh (Mundelein), 17 points from Kevin Blackowicz and 14 points from Eric Pagsanjan the Warriors knocked off the previously undefeated Suns 77-63. The Suns were led by Illinois-bound Jereme Richmond (Waukegan) with 24 points and Colin Nickerson who added 15 points.
Paul Tometich (Cary-Grove) scored 23 points, Ben Jacquier scored 14 points and Mark Tometich (Cary-Grove) added 13 points to lead the Kings to a 87-48 win over the Hornets. The Hornets got 19 points from Cory Hrynyk (Bartlett) and 12 points from Hillsdale-bound John Bagge (Wheaton North). Mike McCall (Chicago Foreman) scored 21 points and Eddie Denard (Chicago Foreman) added 14 points as the Sonics defeated the Jazz 77-67. Tyrone Allen (Homewood-Flossmoor) led the Jazz with 18 points.
In Frosh/Soph action, Dwayne Springs scored 17 points, Sam Lukasiewicz scored 15 points and Devin Powell added 8 points to overcome 28 points from D'Wayne Brantley and 27 points from Tim Hill to lead the Sixers past the Pacers 75-62.
Justin Wasik knocked down 26 points, Jack Ryan scored 24 points and John Domanus scored 16 points to lead the Celtics to an 84-71 win over the Hawks. The Hawks were led by Paul Williams with 23 points. Meanwhile, Taylor Moore scored 18 points and Sam Savaglio scored 16 points to overcome a 30-point game from Joseph Bulliner as the Nets topped the Bulls 69-64.
Chris Morgan scored 21 points and John Androus, Dylan Bartuch and T.J. Cox each scored 14 points to power the Bucks past the Bobcats 71-45. Connor Boehm scored 18 points and Harris Habibviz scored 12 points for the Bobcats. Meanwhile, 31 points from 6-7 Mike Gabriel was not enough as the Heat defeated the Cavs 58-47. Matt Palucki scored 17 points to lead a balanced team effort from the Heat.
Lou Adesida pumped in 21 points and Julian Owens scored 16 points as the Magic edged the Pistons 63-62. Michael Mache scored 20 points and Marquise Thomas added 17 points to lead the Pistons. Meanwhile, Leavon Head scored 20 points to lead the Knicks to a 52-41 win over the Wizards. Demarko Nash and Aric Dickerson each scored 9 points for the Wizards.
