Jerrance Howard Named As The New Assistant Coach At The University Of Illinois
Former University of Illinois basketball standout Jerrance Howard has been named as the new assistant coach at the University of Illinois. Howard will take over for Tracy Webster, who left two weeks ago to take a position on staff with Billy Gillispie at the University of Kentucky.
Howard, who is 27 years old, will be looked upon to not only hit the recruiting trail hard, but to use his youth as an advantage to bond, and work closely with the team at the University of Illinois. He has big shoes to fill in replacing Webster, who is known for his recruiting passion, and his ability to open recruiting doors.
The job, which drew considerable interest from around the country, will be Howard's first as a true coaching position after serving in administrative roles at Texas A&M and Kentucky. Howard had strong backing from within the University of Illinois to get the position. He will need to hit the ground running on the recruiting trail.
The official announcement is expected to come later today, or tomorrow.
