Player Diary: Jimmy Williams of Independence (KS) Community College
Jimmy Williams (Independence Community College) Brian Stinnette Special To ChicagoHoops.com September 26, 2004 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com Jimmy Williams of Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas takes us along for a special look inside his life both on and off the basketball court during his freshman year of college. What's up again everybody! This is Jimmy Williams, 6-4 freshman guard at Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas. I have been down at school now for just over a month and a half, and things are still going pretty good for me here. One thing that is very different is the fact that I have to study a lot more down here than what I had to do in high school. It is cool though, and I think that I am doing alright. I am spending lots of time hitting the weights. Every other day with team I alternate between squats and the bench press. I can really see the results already. I am much stronger than what I was a few months ago. I still go in and hit the weights on my own time to ensure that I continue to get stronger. I have individual workouts on Monday's and Wednesday's. I spend a lot of time getting up a lot of shots. My focus is to work on my form. It has helped me greatly because I can see that the range on my shot has increased a lot. I also go in and do a lot of shooting on my own. I just want to be the best player that I can possibly be. One thing is for sure, and that is that I am getting a lot thrown at me at once. It is incredible the amount of work we put in. We run, we lift weights, and the level of competition is very, very strong. We go at it on the floor every single day! Life in the dorms is cool. I spend a lot of time in my room because I am so tired at the end of the day. I am still adjusting a little bit, but hey the cafeteria food isn't so bad, and I am able to get away on the weekends. That's all for now, but I would like to give out a shout to Coach Thorpe, Coach Lacewell, and my cousin Jeremy Nash who plays for Chicago Marist. Until Next Time, Jimmy Williams Independence Community College |
