Head coach Tim Jankovich, Paris Parham and Illinois State University have struck for a third time this week on the 2009 recruiting trail, and have now landed Chicago St. Rita star Terry Johnson, Jr. from the Mac Irvin Fire.

Johnson, a 6'0" guard, is known for his versatility, and his ability to score the basketball from all points of the floor. Johnson rates as one of the top Class of 2009 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois.

"They made us feel like we were at home!", said Terry Johnson, Sr., the father of Terry Johnson, Jr. "We were impressed from the beginning of the visit until the end."

The Johnson's just wrapped up a visit to the Illinois State campus, and decided to join the Redbirds. ISU assistant coach Paris Parham, with his strong Chicago connections was the point man on Johnson's recruitment.

Johnson joins 6'5" Justin Clark and 6'7" Jon Ekey in what is shaping up to be a stellar 2009 recruiting haul for Illinois State. Clark led the state of Missouri in scoring as a junior while Ekey led the state in blocked shots. Both players hail from William Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri, and both competed on the travel team circuit with Kansas City Pump N' Run.
