Class of 2007 Hillcrest star Kellen Thornton is enjoying a solid spring and summer on the basketball court, and is beginning to see his recruiting stock rise. Thornton ranks as one of the top 2007 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois.

Thornton, a 6-6 forward, is an extremely long, and highly versatile player on the basketball court. Thornton is a player who is capable of getting things done both inside and outside, and is adept at using his length to excel both as a rebounder, and also as a shot-blocker.

Thornton, who projects as a small forward in college, told ChicagoHoops.com that he currently sees his ability to both score, and his rebounding as the two strongest parts of his game. He is working hard to continue to improve as a defender of the perimeter.

Thornton has seen his recruiting begin to pick up over the past couple of months, and is hearing from a number of schools including Providence, Northern Illinois, Loyola and Northern Iowa.

In 2006-07, Thornton will be one of the leaders of a Hillcrest team that will return a number of key performers from this past season.
