Class of 2010 Rich East star Kashaune McKinney, who has seen his recruiting stock skyrocket over the course of the past year, is ready to go out with a bang as he prepares to embark on his senior year. McKinney rates as one of the top Class of 2010 prospects in the state of Illinois.

McKinney, a 6'3" shooting guard, is known for his ability to score the basketball. He is a player who has the ability to get points from anywhere on the floor, and was one of the top players on a very strong, and senior-laden Rich East team a year ago, and will now take over as the leader of the team as they look to repeat their success of a year ago.

McKinney enters his senior season with a clear set of goals and objectives. McKinney said, "I want to be All-Conference, All-Area, and All-State. I also want to be the best leader that I can be by leading by example, and making sure that everyone is doing their job."

McKinney followed up his strong junior season at Rich East with an equally strong run on the travel team circuit with the Illinois Wolverines in the spring, and then with the Illinois Warriors in the summer. He is hearing from a long line of schools including Northeastern, Boston University, Western Illinois, and Louisiana-Monroe. A list that will likely expand during the course of his senior year.

McKinney's focus is on what needs to be for the team to be successful as he knows that if they can gel, that everything else will take care of itself. McKinney's places emphasis on defense, rebounding and heart as the ingredients for success on the court for Rich East. "Defense, rebounding, and heart. If we can out hustle the other teams, we will have a very successful year," said McKinney.
