Class of 2010 star Larry Whitaker closed out his high school career at Bartlett playing strong individually, and played a major role in leading Bartlett to their first Sectional title in school history. Whitaker rates as one of the top available prospects for the Illinois Class of 2010.

Whitaker, a highly versatile 6'5" forward, scored 17 points and grabbed 20 rebounds in a losing effort against Waukegan for the IHSA Class 4A Elgin SuperSectional title.

“Larry has really developed his ability to slash to the basket. Being a lefty creates mismatches for him, and he can go left or right. He is good at finishing in traffic, can shoot from outside, and has a more consistent three-point shot. Defensively, he has really learned how to put his body in position to block shots," said Sean Conner from the Velocity travel team program.

In an interview earlier this month, Whitaker mentioned Washington-Lee, Oberlin, Washington University-St. Louis, Illinois Wesleyan, and Augustana among the Division III schools on his list. Illinois Springfield, University of Indianapolis, Northwest Missouri State, Urbana University, Hinsdale College, California University at Chico State, Florida Southern, and Ashford are among the Division II schools that have shown interest.

Whitaker knows exactly what he is looking for in a school. "First of all, I’m looking for a top flight academics. Basketball is going to end at some point, so I want a school that will help me get a good job. I also want a pogram that I can contribute at right away. I’m fine to sit out maybe one year to get my strength up, but I don't want to sit out any more than that," said Whitaker.
