Class of 2009 Springfield Southeast star Lawrence Thomas has signed to play his college basketball for Division II powerhouse University of Southern Indiana. Thomas ranks as one of the top Class of 2009 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois.

Thomas, a 5'9" point guard, is a jet-quick floor leader who is comfortable both scoring and distributing the basketball. Thomas was the Player of the Year in the Central State Eight Conference, and scored nearly 2,000 points during his high school career.

At USI, Thomas will play for new head coach Rodney Watson, and will join a roster of players that also includes former Peoria Richwoods and University of Illinois star Jamar Smith, who averaged better than 18 points per game last season.
