Better than 100 of the top 7th and 8th grade basketball prospects in the state of Illinois put on dazzling show on Sunday at the ChicagoHoops.com 7th and 8th Grade Middle School SuperStar Showcase, which was held at Crete-Monee High School in Crete, Illinois.

Over the years, the event has showcased some outstanding basketball talent at a young age. Last year's event, already has 5 prospects that now hold Division I scholarship offers as freshman including three from high-major programs.

Alumni of the event also include a strong group of players who are now college freshman that squared off against one another. Jereme Richmond (Illinois), Crandall Head (Illinois), Reggie Smith (Marquette), Anthony Johnson (Purdue), Ben Brust (Wisconsin), Brandon Spearman (Dayton), Lavonte Dority (South Florida), Mike McCall (St. Louis), Eddie Denard (UIC) and Karl Madison (Drake) all went head-to-head at the event in the 8th grade.

This year's event again brought in a dynamic array of talent. Class of 2017 7th grade star 6'3 Ben Coupet (Chicago Beasley) is a name that you will likely begin to hear an awful lot about. Coupet already is a dazzling combination of size, athleticism and skill, and with a father who is a 7-footer, he likely still has a lot of inches to grow.

6'4 Brandon Hutton (James Hart) is a player with wing skills who you will hear a lot about in the coming years. 6'1 Charles Matthews (Chicago Kenwood), 6'0 Aaron Armstead (Chicago Woodson), Brandon McRoy (Holy Angels), Karl Harris (Chicago Calvary), 6'5 Randall Hudson (Chicago Calvary), 6'5 Dennis Williams (Wentworth), 6'1 Joffrey Brown (Burr Ridge), Keondre Woods (Brooks), Darius Branch (Chicago Morgan Park), 6'4 Donnell Williams (Chicago Webster), 6'5 Jeremiah Watt (Chicago Newberry), Roland Griffin (Aurora Herget), Mario Keith (Sauk Village Rickover) and Connor Cashaw (Lincolnshire Wright) all put in work in the 8th grade division.

Coupet headlined a fantastic group of 7th grade talent that also included 6'4 Alonzo Chatman (Chicago Morgan Park), 5'9 Rodney Herrington (Homeschooled), Jarrin Randall (Chicago Morgan Park) and Skyler Nash (Chicago Hawthorne). The division featured an fabulous group of 6th grade talent playing up including 5'6 Nojel Easter (Chicago Chute), Lunden Taylor (Chicago Schrum), Cameron Irvin (Chicago Kohn), Willie Herrington (Homeschooled), Octavius Parker (Julian), Brandon Hurt (Cornerstone Christian) and Evan Gilyard (Meadowview). Jaylin Fleming (Chicago Beasley) put in work playing up in the 8th grade division. Fred Cleveland put his advanced point guard skills on display playing up three levels in the 7th grade division.
