Class of 2011 Chicago De La Salle star Mike Shaw of the Mac Irvin Fire is having fun playing right now, and enjoying the success of the Mac Irvin Fire on the hardwood. Shaw rates among the top Class of 2011 basketball prospects in the country.

Shaw, a 6'8" forward, is a highly versatile frontcourt star who excels both inside and outside on the floor. Offensively, Shaw has the ability to get points both in the paint, and with his jumper which he nails with three-point range. Defensively, Shaw is a stellar rebounder who is equally comfortable guarding bigger and smaller foes alike.

Shaw is enjoying this spring on the hardwood. “I’m getting back into my groove. I am really starting to find my rhythm again, and to get that feel. At our last Nike EYBL event we were great, and I think Sam Thompson was really helpful almost like he was our missing piece. Our confidence is really good right now as a team, and we all believe in each other. It's fun playing right now. No one is playing for themselves, and we are all playing together to win,” said Shaw.

Shaw knows exactly what he wants from a basketball program. “Somewhere where I can get up and down the floor and showcase my talent. I want to get better and improve my game. I want a good education, and the chance to play early at a school with a coach who will get me to the next level, and will push me to be the best player I can be.”

Shaw's recruitment pretty much remains the same. “I haven’t taken any visits recently, but basically everything is the same with my recruiting. My family and I are the ones who are solely handling the recruiting process no outside influences or anything. Right now I have a lot of Big East, ACC, and some Big Ten schools all recruiting me I have a lot of schools interested in me. I don’t want to name the schools it’s a long list and I don’t want to forget anyone, but I’ve been getting a lot of calls from pretty much the same schools,” said Shaw.

Shaw is part of a loaded Illinois Class of 2011, and is one of four members of the 17-U Mac Irvin Fire that are currently ranked among the Top 100 2011 prospects in the United States. Shaw, and his Mac Irvin Fire teammates will be in action this weekend in Los Angeles, California at the Nike Memorial Day Classic.
