Class Of 2011 Chicago University High School Star Mike Turner Of Mean Streets-Newell Continues To Pile On Scholarship Offers On The Heels Of His Strong Play Cavan Walsh July 20, 2010 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com Class of 2011 Chicago University High School star Mike Turner of Mean Streets-Newell continues to pile on scholarship offers on the heels of a sizzling start to the July Evaluation Period. Turner rates as one of the top Class of 2011 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois. Turner, a 6'8" power forward, is a star in the classroom, as well as on the basketball court. He is a highly mobile and active post who has the ability to take command on the floor both with his scoring inside, and his ability to rebound. Turner has added several offers to his collection. “In the past couple days I have picked up offers from Colgate, Northern Illinois, Valparaiso, Penn, and Miami (OH),” said Turner, who went on to note, “I really don’t know what to say anymore about the new offers to tell you the truth. It’s great to have options though, and as of now I have quite a few of them, so I will continue to be in dialog with the schools, and will narrow my options when the time comes.” In addition to the new offers, Turner is also being hotly pursued by Southern Illinois, Bradley, Bucknell and Cleveland State. Turner is ready to close out the July Evaluation Period strong. “I expect to be around some great talent, so I’m expecting some strong showings at our last two tournaments in Kansas City and Merrillville. I just want to continue to keep playing well as a team, and also as an individual.” |
