Chicago Morgan Park head coach Nick Irvin has a "franchise" player in Wayne Blackshear, but he is also very high on a number of freshmen that he feels will ultimately take the Morgan Park program to new levels of success before they are finished.

5'10" Marquee Williams, 6'0" Billy Garrett, Jr., 6'1" Terrence "Speedy" Quinn and 6'8" Xavier Taylor are four names that you can expect to hear a lot about in the coming years.

Williams, a silky-smooth, point guard, is slated to start as a freshman alongside of senior Laron Smith on the Morgan Park varsity. Williams spent the spring and summer starring on a loaded 14-U Mac Irvin Fire team that also featured Thomas Hamilton (Chicago Whitney Young) and Jabari Parker (Chicago Simeon).

Irvin is equally high on his other trio of star freshman. He describes Garrett, the son of DePaul assistant coach Billy Garrett, as a dazzling young floor leader who reminds him of Imari Sawyer. Quinn is a combo guard who is known for his ability to score the basketball.

Taylor is perhaps the most intriguing prospect of the group. Tall, long and highly mobile, Taylor has all the tools to develop into a dominant force in the paint. Irvin notes that Taylor is getting better every day, and believes that when it is all said and done, that he will be one of the truly elite prospects in the 2013 class.

How good does Irvin think his freshmen are? "This group of freshmen will win a state title before they leave Morgan Park," said Irvin.

The Morgan Park varsity will open their season next week at the McGovern Classic at Chicago St. Rita High School.
