Loaded! Head Coach Al Bruehl, Aburey Volious, And Chicago-Based NAIA Powerhouse Robert Morris College Open Season As The Preseason #1-Ranked Team In The Country Chicago Hoops October 29, 2009 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com Chicago-based NAIA powerhouse Robert Morris College has been picked as the #1 team in the country in the preseason NAIA Men's Basketball Coaches Poll. The state of Illinois also has McKendree checking in at #5, and Olivet Nazerene checking in at #25 in the poll. Last year, Robert Morris finished the season with a 27-4 record, and advanced all the way to the Final Four of the National Championship Tournament. This year, Robert Morris returns a host of talent including Reggie Bunch, who averaged 15.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. The team returns two other starters, and has added 6'8" former Rockford Jefferson and UIC star Robert Eppinger, and former Chicago Farragut and Mineral Area star Sean Scott to their loaded attack. The team also features a number of other former Illinois high school stars including Billy Rush (Thornridge), Yami Ball (East Aurora), Roy Beard (Rich Central) and Ian Riley (Thornwood). Head coach Harry Statham, and McKendree, has high hopes of their own, and will rely heavily on former Vandalia star Eric Hobbie. |
