The list of players is headlined by Derrick Rose (Chicago Simeon) who led the University of Memphis all the way to the NCAA championship game this past season as a freshman. In addition to Rose, Javale McGee (Chicago Hales Franciscan) from Nevada, Jerel McNeal (Hillcrest) from Marquette, Jeremy Pargo (Chicago Robeson) from Gonzaga and Gordon Watt (Evanston) from Houston Baptist have all applied for early entry. Rose is expected to be one of the first two players selected, and McGee is expected to go among the first 20 picks, and they will not be returning to college. McNeal, Pargo and Watt are not expected to hire agents, and will retain the right to return to school if they are not satisfied with their draft position.
