Part 3: News And Notes From The 2010 Nike Spring Showdown In Indiana Brian Stinnette April 29, 2010 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com Matt Krueger, Zoe Bauer and Alajuwon Edwards all enjoyed strong showings or Full Package NWI, who made a fierce run in the playoffs all the way to the 17-U Bronze title game at the 2010 Nike Spring Showdown In Indiana. Two weekends ago, Full Package NWI won the Hardwood Invitational at the Fieldhouse of Merrillville with Nick Pellar (Munster), Adam Butterfield (Valparaiso) and Aleska Kojcinovic (Wheeler) leading their title surge. Class of 2012 Hillcrest star Jalen Loving of Illinois Crush-Silver enjoyed a big weekend at the 2010 Nike Spring Showdown In Indiana. Ryan Royall, another 2012 star from Hillcrest was likewise impressive. Hillcrest looks prepared to not miss a beat after winning the IHSA Class 3A title this past season. Josh Buie of O'Fallon Township and Charles Joy of O'Fallon Township of the S.W. Illinois Jets both enjoyed big weekends. Joy, who is already verballed to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, put his game on full display. Buie continues to impress with his ability to make shots. Yes, O'Fallon will once again be among the top teams in high school basketball in 2010-11. Greg Hefferman (Chicago Mather), 6'5" Victor Osayuk (Chicago Von Steuben) and 6'4" Darrick Walker (Chicago Academy) were all among the standouts for the 16-U Chicago Demons who had a very strong showing at the 2010 Nike Spring Showdown In Indiana. Class of 2011 star Phillip Greene (Chicago Julian) of Mean Streets was terrific throughout the weekend, and was at his best in a semifinal showdown game against Chasson Randle (Rock Island), and the Illinois Wolves. Randle was magnificent in leading the Wolves to victory, but Greene was likewise impressive, and the 6'2" guard continues to enhance his recruiting stock. Class of 2012 Winnebago star Marcus Posley of Pryme Tyme was once again very good. The strong-framed guard is extremely difficult to keep away from the rim on his drives to the hole. He's good! Blake Simmons (Castle) of 15-U Indiana Elite-Dakich put together a very strong weekend of play. Simmons, who stands 6'4" is the son of Evansville head coach Marty Simmons. 15-U Indiana Elite-Dakich is coached by Indiana University basketball legend Dan Dakich, who previously was head coach at Bowling Green. Remember the name Kyree Perkins (Chicago Woodson) who plays up with the 15-U Mac Irvin Fire. He is a 2014 prospect that you will hear a lot about in the coming years. Really like Class of 2012 Stevenson star Mike Fleming of the 16-U Illinois Wolves. Keep an eye out for Class of 2012 Freeport star Luke Norman of the Illinois Cougars. |
