Former Seton Academy star D.J. Cooper, and former Champaign Centennial star James Kinney, who both won state titles a year ago, are now both off to very strong starts for Ohio University.

Cooper, a 5'10" point guard, is averaging 14 points, 8 assists, 8 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game in the early part of the season. Cooper's best statistical effort was a 15-point, 9-rebound, 8-assist effort in a win over Middle Tennessee State.

Kinney, a 6'1" guard, is averaging 14 points and 3 assists per contest. His best effort was a 23-point outburst in Ohio's win over North Carolina A&T.

Last year, Cooper led Seton Academy to the IHSA Class 2A state title, while Kinney led Champaign Centennial to the IHSA Class 3A state crown.

Ohio currently sports a record of 3-0, and will next be in action on Monday against Lamar, which features former Chicago Whitney Young standout Stan Brown.
