Michael Burris has been officially named the new head mens basketball coach at Olney Central College. Despite a tough season a year ago, Olney rates as one of the top junior college basketball programs in the state of Illinois.
Burris, who was an assistant at Olney a year ago, will take over a team that returns 6-1 shooting guard Marcus McCants from Marion, Ohio. McCants, a "lights out" shooter, dropped 92 three-point baskets last year en route to averaging 15.3 points per game.
Burris has a solid recruiting class coming in this year. Dominque John (Indianapolis, IN), Desmond Stephens (Bloomington, IN), Troy McFarland (Bowling Green, KY) and Brandon Bryant (Detroit, MI) are among the headliners.
