Class of 2010 Chicago Providence St. Mel star Phillip Jackson of the 16-U Mac Irvin Fire has picked up a scholarship offer from Northern Illinois University. Jackson ranks as one of the top 2010 prospects in the state of Illinois.
Jackson, who stands 6-8, is a mobile and athletic post who is seeing his recruiting stock begin to climb. Always known for his shot-blocking and rebounding, Jackson has begun to make great strides offensively, and remains a player with tremendous upside potential.
This past season, Jackson anchored the post for head coach Todd Kelly at Providence St. Mel. Kelly notes that a number of schools ranging from Southern Illinois to Kentucky have made inquiries on Jackson this week alone.
Jackson, is part of a loaded 16-U Mac Irvin Fire team that features a host of Class of 2011 stars including Wayne Blackshear (Chicago Curie), Sam Thompson (Chicago Whitney Young), Dre Henley (Chicago De La Salle), Jay Parker (Thornton) and DeShawn Greer (Chicago Simeon) playing up an age division.
