Class of 2010 Crete-Monee star Ray Lester of Orange Crush has given a verbal commitment to play his college basketball for head coach Jerry Eaves, and North Carolina A&T State University. Lester rates as one of the top Class of 2010 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois.

Lester, a 6'6" power forward, excels with his size, athleticism and versatility on the basketball court. He is coming off of a strong run on the travel team circuit with Orange Crush where he anchored the frontcourt while 6'5" Kent State-bound Eric Gaines (Hillcrest) held down the backcourt.

Lester, who took an official visit to the school this past weekend, cited a number of reasons why he decided to commit to North Carolina A&T. "I was able to build a good relationship with the coaching staff, and I felt like I could be myself with them," said Lester. Lester went on to note that North Carolina A&T moved quickly, and made him feel like a priority after they saw him play, and that also was a factor in his decision.

Lester went on to note that he brings a different style of play to the table than some of the other bigs on the A&T roster, and that he feels confident that he will be able to come in, and be able to immediately compete for playing time.

Lester can now focus on his senior year on the hardwood, and is hungry to continue to work hard toward proving himself on the basketball court as an individual, and is equally hungry to help Crete-Monee prove themselves as a team on the floor as he prepares to embark on his senior year.

Lester becomes the second 2010 Crete-Monee prospect to commit to a Division I school joining Mario Redmond (Western Illinois), and is also the second Orange Crush player to offer a commitment to a Division I school joining Hillcrest star Eric Gaines (Kent State).
