Class Of 2010 Thornton Star Reggie Smith Of The Mac Irvin Fire Signs To Play His College Basketball In The Big East Conference For Marquette University Brian Stinnette November 19, 2009 Email Questions/Comments To brian@chicagohoops.com Class of 2010 Thornton Township High School star Reggie Smith of the Mac Irvin Fire has now signed to play his college basketball in the Big East Conference for Marquette University. Smith rates as one of the top Class of 2010 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois. Smith, a 6'0" guard, is an explosive athlete who has the ability to get minutes at either guard slot. Smith is coming off of another strong run on the travel team circuit with the Mac Irvin Fire, and is also set to once again lead a strong Thornton High School team. Nick Irvin of the Mac Irvin Fire confirmed that Smith signed with Marquette, and mentioned the three-guard offense that Marquette runs, the chance to play in the Big East, and his relationship with the coaching staff as primary reasons that Smith will become a Golden Eagle. Smith can now focus his attention on the high school season. Last year, Smith led Thornton to the #1 ranking in the state of Illinois, and a Final Four finish in the IHSA Class 4A state tournament. Smith is the latest in a long line of members from the 17-U Mac Irvin Fire to decide on a college joining Jereme Richmond (Illinois), Meyers Leonard (Illinois), Ahmad Starks (Oregon State) and J.R. Reynolds (Rice). |
