Class of 2010 Chicago Bogan star Rico Richardson has been nothing short of terrific this season in leading his team to the Chicago Public League Red-South title, and positioning his team for a strong March run. Richardson, who transferred in this year from Topeka, Kansas, rates as one of the top Class of 2010 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois.

Richardson, a 6'0" point guard, is a dazzling scorer who has the ability to score from anywhere on the floor. Richardson came to Chicago with an impressive resume that included leading Topeka (KS) Highland Park High School to three consecutive Class 5A state titles in the state of Kansas.

Richardson is torching the nets to the tune of about 23 points per game on the season, and has also put his ball-distribution skills on display en leading Bogan to a 20-6 record, and the Chicago Public League Red-South title. The Red-South, which also features Simeon, Julian, Brooks, Morgan Park, and Vocational, was the toughest league in the state this season.

Richardson is happy with the way Bogan has played this season. “It’s been going pretty good so far. We are getting on the same page as a team right now, and we are starting to really roll as a team. I can’t wait to see how far we go, and to just keep playing at the pace we are at,” noted Richardson.

Richardson, who now ranks among the Top 30 Class of 2010 prospects in the state of Illinois, is part of a strong group of uncommitted backcourt scorer's that also includes Jay Harris (Oswego East), Walter Lemon (Chicago Julian), Fabyon Harris (Chicago Hyde Park) and Hollis Hill (Chicago Vocational).

Richardson's recruiting has started to heat up. “It’s starting to get really hectic. A lot of schools are calling me and feeling me out. I’ve got interest coming from all over the board. Providence, Virginia, Illinois, Arkansas, UCLA, Memphis, Arizona, and Baylor have all been in touch. A lot of mid-majors are calling as well like Wichita State, Northern Illinois, Illinois State, Drake, Nevada, and St. Louis,” said Richardson.

Richardson has a very clear idea of what he is looking for in a college program. “I think relationship with the coaching staff is going to be really important. Location isn’t too important to me. I want to come in and play even if I don’t start I want to come in and play a lot of minutes as a freshman,” said Richardson.

Richardson also notes that he has taken just one unofficial visit to date, and that was to Illinois. He plans on taking a number of visits once the season ends, and doesn't anticipate making a collegiate decision until he finishes taking care of business during the high school season with Bogan.

Richardson, and his Chicago Bogan teammates will be in action again this Wednesday, when they host Chicago Uplift in the second round of the Chicago Public League Playoffs.
