Class of 2010 Champaign Centennial star Rayvonte Rice of the Rising Stars has picked up a Missouri Valley Conference scholarship offer from Drake University. Rice ranks among the top 2010 basketball prospects in the state of Illinois.

Rice, a 6'3" small forward, is an intriguing combination of size, strength and versatility. Rice is on a roll after teaming with James Kinney (Ohio), and fellow Class of 2010 standout 6'7" Jeff Johnson to lead Champaign Centennial to the IHSA Class 3A state championship.

Rice, who is beginning to pile up scholarship offers, sent his recruiting stock soaring during the IHSA state tournament. He is now playing alongside of Lenzelle Smith (Ohio State), Alex Rossi, Jordan Threloff and Ben Brust on the travel team circuit with the Rising Stars.

Mike Weinstein of the Rising Stars confirmed the Drake offer.

Next year, Rice and 6'7" Jeff Johnson of the 17-U Peoria Irish will be back at Centennial with an eye on defending their Class 3A state championship.
